After growing up with a Cocker Spaniel as a child, it was in September 1960 when I received my first Scottierh Terrier, Ch MacBow Myree Anne a female bred by my Aunt & Uncle, given to me as a gift by my brothers. Originally purchased as a pet we were talked in to taking her to a show the following January and so was born the Scottie bug. Not long after my parents purchased a femaie Ch Triprain Black Mist which was the beginning of their involvement in the breed, later registering the Caspersz Kennel Prefix which continues being held by my niece.
The fist litter was bred from my original girl, with the Prefix MacPrain being registered. From my first litter I bred two very successful females, one of which was twice Best in Show at a Scottish Terrier Club Specialty Show. Some eighteen months after getting my first Scottie, A West Highland White Terrier was added with much success both in the show ring and breeding. In myfirst litter of Westies, I bred the female Aust Ch MacPrain Dalmay Mindy, purchased as a pet but later having great success in the show ring taking out amongst other top wins Best In Show at the West Highland White Terrier Club, together with Challenge Bitch at Sydney Royal and being the foundation bitch for the well known Ardresse Kennel.
Over the years I have had the pleasure of owning some very successful dogs in both breeds, while also importing and exporting both. Some of which are shown on this website.
I continued showing and breeding with succes , including Aust, Swd , Nor & Norduch Ch MacPrain Miranda (Maur) who took out many top placings in this country being BTC Top Terrier 1991, after which she was exported to Sweden to Mrs Cindy Peddersson who campainged her to Top Scottish Terrier and Top Terrier in that Country in 1993, At the time of Maur leaving this country, I took a break from active showing and breeding, but still taking interest in both breeds, resuming some years later in 2000 when I was sent a granddaughter of Maur, Swd & Aust So What Fata Morgana, who made an inpact in the show ring here, her top wins being Best in Show at Scottish Terrier Club of Vic Show Judge Stuart Plane UK and Best in Show at The Scottish Terrier Club Inc Judge Mrs Fay Vorias from here I have continued on with a very successful breeding program with home bred top winners and also adding Aust Ch Just in the Dark of Whitebriar (Imp NZ), Aust & NZ Ch Blackbiar Bees Knees (Imp NZ) , Aust Grand Ch So What Un Piligrino (Imp Swd), Killisport Silver Fox (Imp UK) and more recently Aust Ch Trakside Echo of Light (Imp UK) and Trakside Ladybird (Imp UK) who is about to enter the ring.
Over the years travelling overseas and importing many dogs to add to my home bred stock, I look forward to continuing the success I have achieved to date, this includes breeding some 42 MacPrain Champions and making up 20 other Champions
While dedicating much of my life to these breeds (having also owned a Kerry Blue and Norwich Terriers) I am now a ANKC approved judge of Toy & Terrier Groups.
I look forward to continuing on with what I have been doing for some 48 years, promoting this lovely breed
